About B Corps

Certified B Corporations are part of a growing movement of people using business as a force for good. Across a variety of industries and around the world, these companies are putting people and the planet before profits and redefining what it means to be successful in business.

This diverse community is constantly evolving and often surprising. Though B Corp Certification originated in the U.S., there are now more B Corps operating outside the U.S. And while many people are most familiar with B Corps who sell consumer product goods, the majority of the community is actually made up of B2B companies.

Across borders and cultures, these companies have all signed a commitment not just to do less harm, but to do more good, and they accelerate their positive impact by partnering with fellow B Corps. Here are a few more facts and talking points about this global community:

  2. B Corps meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability to all of their stakeholders.

  3. B Corps use the power of business to solve our most pressing global challenges.

  4. Unlike traditional corporations, B Corps are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders: customers, workers, communities, and the environment.

  5. People want to work for, buy from, and invest in businesses they believe in.

  6. B Corp Certification is a very powerful way to build credibility, trust, and value for your business.

  7. Over 3,800 Certified B Corporations in over 74 countries, across 150 industries inspiring tens of thousands of other companies to follow their lead by measuring their impact, changing their corporate structure, and building better businesses.

  8. Total combined revenue of B Corps globally is 67 billion dollars.

  9. More than 75,000 businesses are actively following the lead of B Corps by using B Lab's B Impact Assessment and benefit corporation governance structure.

Environment

  • B Corps outperform ordinary businesses by 15% on natural-resources conservation.

  • B Corps are 87% more likely to monitor, record, and set scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets compared with ordinary businesses.

  • B Corps are 70% more likely to reduce the volume or toxicity of waste generated through material selection, production process, or product design than ordinary businesses.

  • 98% of B Corps in manufacturing have incorporated energy-efficiency measures within their facilities.

  • B Corps are 2.8x more likely to use 100% low-impact renewable energy than ordinary businesses.
